On a hot Brooklyn afternoon, two New York men set out to rob a bank. Sonny (Al Pacino) is the mastermind, Sal (John Cazale) is the follower, and disaster is the result. Because the cops, crowds, TV cameras and even the pizza man have arrived. The "well-planned" heist is now a circus.

Sonny wants money to pay for his male wife's sex change operation. His other (female) wife is driving him crazy, along with his mother and his partner who thinks Wyoming is a country. But the craziest part is that it's all based on a true story.
